July 21, 2009 ~ Just before 1800 in the midst of widespread storm related emergencies, Wheat Ridge Fire was alerted to a structure fire at 7780 West 38th.  First arriving Chief 71 found a 4 story occupied multiple dwelling with black, laminar smoke showing from the balcony on floor 2.  Mutual aid from West Metro was immediately requested to complete the assignment.  Engine 77 arrived as the first due engine and went to the fire floor where a small room and content fire was located.  The fire was initially knocked with a light water can and an attack line was advanced in.  Multiple companies conducted searches and ventilation in the building with most picking up within 30 minutes.   Rick Luebke Photo.
