August 13, 2009 ~ Thornton Firefighters were alerted to a tree fire at 2100 West 100th Avenue. The incident was quickly upgraded to a structure fire before the first units went enroute. Companies arrived to find heavy fire conditions to the rear of a home on Shavano Road. A quick knock on the vegetation fire and exposure home was made, holding extension to the exterior of the home. The cause remains under investigation but neighbors report hearing fireworks just prior to the fire. Mike Melton Photos
