May 31, 2009 ~ Around 2205 Thornton Fire Dept. was alerted to a possible dumpster fire outside of Riverdale Elementary at 10724 Elm Drive.  First due Engine 73 found active smoke and fire coming from the C side exterior which had extended to an outside ceiling and support posts on the school.  A fast attack with pre-connects was put into place and full structure response was started.  The fire was quickly knocked and searches for extension took place.  There was only smoke and heat extension into the school, but no fire damage.  Thornton Fire investigated along with police and school officials.  Mike Melton Photos
