October 14th ~ In the early afternoon Boulder County Firefighters responded to a reported wildland fire along Highway 72 near Gross Dam.  Crews found a wind driven fire on the south aspect of mixed vegetation slope.  Command reported 10-20 flame length at one point during high wind conditions and smoke was visible from Denver.  Several fire departments responded and made an offensive attack, gaining control of the incident within several hours.  The fire was held to about 5 acres, no structures were damaged and no injuries were reported.  A tractor working the area hit and downed a power pole which lead to the fire.  Rick Luebke Photos
