August 18, 2009 ~ West Metro Firefighters were called to a confirmed structure around 2100 hours in the 6800 block of West 14th Avenue.  First due Company 1 found heavy fire conditions from a single story apartment unit.  Engine 1 reported one DOA near the front and continued inside conducting a primary search and fire attack.  The fire was quickly knocked down and a second DOA was located further inside the structure.  Crews conducted minimal overhaul operations, then withdrew from the structure after both searches were complete.  Neighbors report hearing a disturbance just prior to the fire but it's unknown if the two events are related at this time.  West Metro & Lakewood Police continue to investigate the incident.  Rod Blakney Photo
