May 7, 2009 ~ In the early afternoon Littleton Engine 13 was called to the area of Ken Caryl & Wadsworth for a natural gas odor. After several minutes of searching the crew observed two pine trees torching in a residential area. E13 arrived in the 7400 block of South Upham to find a blowing gas line on fire which had extended to a fence and trees. An additional Engine was ordered to assist with structure protection as Xcel Energy worked to clamp the line on both sides. Crews operated 3 lines until the gas could safely be shut down, no injuries occured. Danni Hurst Photo
