April 29, 2009 ~ Just before 1800 hours MetCom received numerous reports of a residential structure fire in the area of Daniels Park Road & Highway 85.  West Douglas County Volunteers were initially dispatched to their side of the district line, additional information then confirmed the location as 3229 Country Club Drive in Castle Pines.  South Metro & Castle Rock units were added to the assignment as reports of heavy fire continued to come in.  Engine 39 arrived first due to find a two story single family home with walkout basement well involved.  The crew from 39 laid in, advanced a line and quickly conducted a primary search while conditions were rapidly deteriorating.  Within minutes of the primary being completed, the operational mode as changed to defensive.  Several lines, one deck monitor and one aerial master stream were placed into operation; successfully protecting the Bravo & Delta exposures as well as the Charlie side vegetation.  One minor firefighter injury occurred, no civilians were injured and the fire was brought under control within the hour.  Click to view the full gallery of photos by Eric Hurst
