July 16, 2009 ~ Around 0800 Denver Firefighters were called to a reported smoke odor inside a commercial high rise at 400 South Colorado Boulevard in Glendale. First due Engine 5 arrived to find an 8 story, occupied office building with nothing showing and no alarm activation. Crews encountered burning odors throughout the building and conducted a thorough search. Nearly an hour into the incident companies located smoke and fire conditions in the ceiling between the 2nd & 3rd floors. Two aerials were used to open up the soffit above the main entry for access and fire attack. Firefighters worked for about 30 minutes to knock all of the smoldering fire and pull the insulation from the void space. No extension into the occupied ares of the building occurred and no injures were reported. Eric Hurst Photos
