June 24, 2009 ~ Around 1700 ACSO was alerted to a Baby’s stroller in the river just west of the overpass at Highway 224 and 74th avenue in Adams County. Deputies located the stroller in the water and asked for Fire Rescue to check the area. North Washington Firefighters responded to the scene with a rescue team and boat to investigate. The incident was determined to be a search and recovery operation only. In the middle of a severe thunderstorm warning, fire crews checked the area and removed the stroller. The stroller was found to be empty with no victims. The sheriff's office kept the stroller for any further investigation. As Firefighters were picking up from the scene multiple calls for fire alarms and trapped motorists in flooded roadways came in stretching rescue recourses thin. Heavy rains flooded many roads and businesses in the area of Broadway and Pecos streets in South Adams bordering North Denver. All parties trapped in the vehicles ether left the area on their own or were easily removed from the rising waters by firefighters.

Around 1812 North Washington Fire Rescue were alerted to a Fire alarm and gas line break investigation at Navaho Manufacturing located at 5330 Fox street. Firefighters arrived to find an industrial building with partial roof collapse with no parties trapped. The building was evacuated while Excel gas and electric secured the building. It’s believed that water collected in the alpha bravo corner of the building’s roof which led to the collapse. An area of 50ft by 75ft of the roof caved in.
