April 23, 2009 ~ Just after midnight Arvada Firefighters were called to 14395 West 70th Drive for a structure fire with parties trapped. While enroute neighbors reported one party had jumped from the second floor. First arriving units found a two story single family home with heavy fire condtions throughout. An aggressive interior search and attack began for the trapped occupant. After several minutes of searching, deteriorating conditions prompted command to order a withdraw. Tactics were changed to a defensive attack until the main body of fire was knocked down. A transition to an interior attack began again and crews once again made a very aggressive push inside. The fire was declared under control after an hour into the incident. The victim who escaped was transported to St. Anthony's Central with burns. Despite the efforts of the AFPD another victim was found deceased inside the home. No firefighters were injured and the investigation continues. Rick Luebke Photos
