September 29, 2009 ~ In the mid afternoon Wheat Ridge Firefighters were alerted to a reported structure fire on West 31st Avenue.  While enroute neighbors reported smoke showing and warned dispatchers of a possible methlab in the home.  First arriving Engine 71 found a single family dwelling with smoke and flames venting from the basement windows.  Initially mutual aid from West Metro was requested, then quickly canceled as several Wheat Ridge companies went enroute.  Crews forced entry, conducted a primary search and fire attack.  The fire was quickly knocked down and the structure ventilated, all searches proved negative.  Fire investigators established a perimeter and remained on scene throughout the night and next morning.  Rick Luebke Photos
