September 27th, 2009 ~ Around noon North Metro Firefighters were alerted to a reported brush fire in the open space near 123rd & Locust. First arriving units found a fast moving vegetation fire in the openspace boardering dozens of homes. Thornton Fire as well as additional North Metro units were requested as the fire grew. Multiple lines were laid for fire attack and exposure protection on the south flank of the fire. At the height of the incident two operational divisions were used and the fire was declared under control within 45 minutes. No injuries or structural damage were reported and investigators were requested to respond. Mike Melton Photos.
